Dana Point PCH Pedestrian BridgeThe City of Dana Point wished to streamline traffic and pedestrian movement at a major intersection on Pacific Coast Highway. The addition of a new pedestrian bridge adjacent to the intersection would eliminate conflicts between pedestrians and cars while serving as an architectural gateway to the City. The program included spanning six lanes of traffic, provide both stairway and elevator access at both sides and to complement the City's Spanish design theme. TSA provided a design that included Spanish tile at the stairwaysm over-crossing floors and Spanish themed towers with domes at each end. The necessary mass for both a stairway and elevator at the ends was softened at the traffic side by architectural detailing and the inclusion of mosaic tile murals representing photos of historic Dana Point.
